for
You? Coaching programs are flexible to the extent you decide how many sessions that you would like. However, a client who benefits most usually makes anywhere from a 3, 6 or 12 month commitment to a lifetime of coaching. The best athlete has a coach (e.g., Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods) and the most successful professionals and celebrities (e.g., Quincy Jones, Erin Brockovich and Anthony Hopkins were all coached by Anthony "Tony" Robbins) maintain a coaching relationship. It really depends on what you want to accomplish and how effective you would like to be!
First, it's important to understand the difference between coaching and counseling.
A coach focuses primarily on existing and future goals his or her client has. A coach is also an accountability partner for setting and accomplishing goals, setting and reaching milestones, helping an individual remain on target, and, no matter what happens (unless health related), and, maintain laser focus on the prize. Coaching usually involves 6-12 sessions and usually pertain to a particular goal that a client is currently trying to achieve or set of goals that the client wants to achieve within a 6-12 month period of time.
A counselor focuses primarily on past problems and helps an individual unravel deeply seated emotional wounds while trying to make sense of life's problems. They also focus on the end results during the counseling process and where his or her client wants to be when their sessions are finished. Because of the depth of the process, it can take years for an individual to feel well and confident enough to stop attending counseling sessions.
Type of coaching: Business or Executive? Business coaching is very similar to sports coaching, you are provided with inspiration, guidance, accountability, encouragement, support, and, laser focus. Business coaching is usually a good fit for entrepreneurs, small-mid sized business owners, sales professionals, marketing professionals, management and teams.
Executive coaching is usually a good fit for managers and leaders who have corporate jobs and want to take their careers to the next level. When at the end of the day results are all that matters, an executive coach can help.
